"Burn" is a hard rock song by British rock band Deep Purple. It was released on the album of the same name in 1974, and was the first song by the Mark III lineup.
The song remained the bands concert opener for the next two years, taking over from "Highway Star". It opened Deep Purples set on the California Jam two months after its release, on April 6 1974.
After the Deep Purple 1984 reunion, the song was no longer played, as Ian Gillan, who David Coverdale replaced, was vocalist once more, and would not sing songs from after he left the band. The band did perform it live from 1989 to 1992, though, because during those years, Gillan was fired from the band once more, and Joe Lynn Turner, who had not previously been in the band replaced him.
