"My Own Summer (Shove It)" is a single by Sacramento, California-based alternative metal band Deftones; their first to be taken from the album Around the Fur. It was released in 1998 by Maverick Records. This opening track is a definitive fan favourite and a staple of every Deftones concert. It was Deftones first charting single, reaching number 29 in the UK Singles Chart. A version of the song was featured on of The Matrix'. In 2002, Linkin Park performed a cover of My Own Summer in Virginia. British Post-hardcore band Fightstar also recorded a cover of the song which was featured on a Kerrang CD release.
