In his performance on VH1 Storytellers, Dave Matthews described this song as being about "the worship of women," albeit from a voyeurs perspective, and subsequently does a humorous impression of the woman being watched through the window complaining to the police. He ends by saying that he wrote this song instead of getting arrested.
