Arthur Ira "Art" Garfunkel (born November 5, 1941) is an American singer, poet, and actor, best known as half of the folk duo Simon & Garfunkel. In particular, he is remembered for being the lead singer on the No. 1 hit single, "Bridge Over Troubled Water". In 1970, at the height of their popularity, the duo split.
Garfunkel also has had a successful career as an actor, receiving a Golden Globe nomination for his portrayal of Sandy Kaufman in Carnal Knowledge. As a poet, he has written a Pulitzer-Award Nominated Book and as a comedian, he has hosted Saturday Night Live six times.
